Richard Booth(Northern)

New - Northern - Cheshire / Staffordshire

Richard was born in Staffordshire and raised in Cheshire. He has always had a natural talent for comedy, character acting, singing and accents.  

He began acting at 12 years old with local theatre companies in Cheshire and Stoke-On-Trent before becoming a member of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain. In 2009 he graduated from Mountview Academy of Theatre Art's Postgraduate Acting Course, where he was trained further in radio, microphone technique, accents, voice acting and singing.

His Mountview credits include: Pentheus: 'The Bacchai', Bassanio: 'Merchant of Venice', Dorimant/Old Bellair: 'The Man of Mode', and Gayev: 'The Cherry Orchard'. In his final piece he played numeorus roles in David Ives 'All in the Timing' ranging from a well spoken Chimpanzee at a typewriter to Leon Trotsky with an Ice Pick in his head.

Since graduating he has been involved in a variety of theatre companies, and has tried his hand at many new skills. Most recently puppetry in the field of Bunraku, Object Manipulation, Shadow and Full Body. He is also a member of the successful Flabbergast puppetry company, which has allowed him to further his skills in impersonation, character voices, and improvisation.

Theatre credits include: Maniac: 'Accidental Death of an Anarchist', Woodcutter/King: 'Sleeping Beauty', Jake: 'The Pirates of Mutiny Bay', Marcus Brutus: 'Julius Caesar', Judge Slappencatchit: 'The Government Inspector', Slavic: 'I'm a Londoner', Saul Hodgkin: 'The Ghost Train', John: 'Cheorphori', and Quintus/Clown: 'Titus Andronicus'.

Radio: Engineer Miggs: '2010: Space Commander' and John Shaddick: 'Angels in the Dark' with 'The Wireless Theatre Company'.

Richard is currently working on a new musical 'Constance and Sinestra: and the Cabinet of Screams'  at the New Wimbledon Studio with 'Action to the Word', following the productions success at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In this he will be reviving his role of the insane basement dwelling taxidermist Mad Dad.
